Cerro Provincia is a unique hike due to its easy access from Santiago, yet it transports you into a parallel world, disconnecting from urban life and connecting fully with the native ecosystem of central Chile. The trail begins in Puente Ñilhue Park, Lo Barnechea, just 30 minutes from downtown Santiago, through a green, forested path that gradually transforms into a rocky and sandy landscape typical of the mid-Andean mountains. Along the trail, you can observe native birds like condors and caracaras, as well as native flora such as peumos, quillay, boldos, and arrayanes.Although this mountain is quite accessible, it's important to note that a good physical condition is required. The hike to its summit involves an elevation gain of 1700 meters and a distance of 18 km, making it a challenging hike and an excellent training ground for larger mountains like Leonera, Plomo, or San José.At the summit, all the effort is rewarded with an unparalleled panoramic view of Santiago and its central valleys to the west, and a close-up view of the Andes Mountains to the east.
