The day begins with the pick-up of participants in Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas. The guide will provide a brief introduction to the itinerary, highlighting the key points we will visit throughout the day.
30 minutes.We head to the port to cross the Chacao Channel by ferry. During the ferry ride, you can enjoy stunning views of the Reloncaví Estuary and possibly spot marine birds and sea lions in their natural habitat. Upon arriving on Chiloé Island, we continue our journey to Ancud.
2 hours.In Ancud, we explore the historic San Antonio Fort, which offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. We then visit the Traditional Market, perfect for discovering local products, from crafts to culinary specialties. We conclude with the Regional Museum, where you’ll learn about the fascinating history, mythology, and traditions of Chiloé.
2 hours.We continue towards Dalcahue, a picturesque town known for its strong connection to Chilote traditions. Along the way, we enjoy the rural landscapes and unique views that capture the island's essence.
40 minutes.In Dalcahue, we visit its UNESCO World Heritage wooden church, a masterpiece of Chilote architecture. We walk along the waterfront, a peaceful space to admire views of the channel, and explore the artisan market, which features handmade crafts such as textiles and basketry created by local artisans.
1 hour 30 minutes.We head to Castro, the capital of Chiloé, enjoying the island's landscapes along the way.
30 minutes.In Castro, we explore its iconic stilt houses, built on wooden stilts above the water, reflecting the ingenuity of Chilote architecture. We visit its UNESCO World Heritage wooden church, another highlight of Chiloé’s cultural heritage. We finish with a walk along the waterfront, where tradition and modernity blend in this vibrant city.
1 hour 30 minutes.We begin the return journey after a day filled with history, culture, and unique landscapes. We cross the Chacao Channel again by ferry before continuing to Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of Chiloé.
