Our journey begins with a transfer from Puerto Varas, traveling along the Carretera Austral until we reach the town of Hornopirén. Along the way, we will cross the Reloncaví Estuary by ferry during a 45-minute navigation, taking in panoramic views of the ocean and the Andes mountains. Once in Hornopirén, we will head toward Lago Cabrera, where we will start a 6 km (approximately 2.5-hour) trek along an ancient logging route. As we walk, we will pass through native forests of Coihues, Mañíos, Cipreses, Tepas, Raulíes, and Alerces, seeing remnants of old logging sites and the homes of early settlers. Upon reaching Lago Cabrera, we will be welcomed by its turquoise waters set against the backdrop of the Hornopirén and Yates volcanoes. We will take a break to rest, enjoy a snack, and admire the natural scenery. After some time to relax and explore, we will begin our return along the same route, followed by our transportation back to Puerto Varas. This trekking experience is perfect for those looking for a deep connection with nature, exploring off-the-beaten-path routes in Chile's Patagonia.
