<p>Santiago is undoubtedly one of the most privileged cities in the world for easy access to great and stunning summits. One such summit is Cerro Pintor, a peak at 4180 meters accessible from Santiago on a full-day excursion. Its name comes from its intense red, green, and blue colors, which change shades throughout the day and with the sunlight. We access this route from the base of the La Parva ski center, where we arrive by car. From there, we ascend to Laguna Piuquenes, also a popular camping spot. We rest for a few minutes before climbing about 200 meters up Cerro Falsa Parva, then proceed along the ridge and trail that leads us directly to El Pintor, passing Cerro La Parva. The route is technically easy but physically demanding. We will be at over 4000 meters, so the wind will feel colder, the air drier, and the lack of oxygen will be noticeable. All this effort will be more than rewarded when reaching the summit and appreciating the grandeur of the mountains, especially El Plomo, which will be prominently in view.</p>
