This tour unveils the breathtaking beauty of Chile’s Altiplano. We’ll begin with hotel pick-up in San Pedro de Atacama and a breakfast stop along the way. Our first stop is Toconao, a charming indigenous village built with white volcanic stone. There, we’ll explore its history, visit the 18th-century San Lucas Church and bell tower, both declared national monuments.Next, if conditions allow, we’ll head to Chaxa Lagoon within the Atacama Salt Flat. It’s a natural habitat for flamingos and features beautiful reflective pools. Then, we’ll reach Piedras Rojas for a short walk, admiring its vivid red hues and surreal scenery. You’ll also visit the high-altitude Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons, located over 4,000 meters above sea level, framed by their namesake volcanoes. With some luck, we may spot vicuñas, foxes, or other native wildlife.Lunch will be served either en route or at a restaurant on the return. Options include a main dish and beverage in the field, or a two-course meal with drink at the restaurant. We’ll then explore the emerald waters of Aguas Calientes Salt Flat before returning to San Pedro. Arrival is expected between 12 and 13 hours after departure.
