What to expect

Introductory Talk

We start at the office with an introductory talk about the route, Cerro Castillo National Park, and safety tips for trekking.

Transfer to Cerro Castillo National Park, Estero Parada Sector

We head to the trailhead in the Estero Parada sector.

Start of the Trail

Trekking through a deciduous forest surrounded by lengas and ñires, with the possibility of spotting birds such as woodpeckers and Andean condors.

Arrival at the First Porteadores Camp

Brief stop at the first camp to enjoy the views and the natural surroundings.

Arrival at the Neozelandés Camp and Lunch

We arrive at the Neozelandés Camp amphitheater, where we’ll enjoy a box lunch surrounded by a spectacular mountain range with views of Cerro Palo, Cerro Chocolate, and the west face of Cerro Castillo.

Return to the Trailhead

We begin the return trek to the Estero Parada sector, enjoying the views and surroundings once again.

End of the Trek and Transfer to Villa Cerro Castillo

Arrival at the trailhead, where we’ll be picked up for the return transfer to the agency in Villa Cerro Castillo.

What to bring
  • Clothing: Warm clothing, windbreaker, insulated jacket, upper and lower base layers.
  • Footwear: Trekking shoes.
  • Accessories: Gloves, bandanas, sunglasses, sunscreen, trekking poles.

  • Difficulty Level: Medium. The trail is 16 km round trip, requiring optimal physical fitness.
  • There is an option for a half-day hike, ideal for those with limited time or accompanied by children.
