What to expect

Meeting at the Office

We will meet the guides at our office in Villa Cerro Castillo, where a brief introduction to the activity will be provided, and transportation to the trailhead will be organized.

Trail Start

The hike begins through ancient native forests of lenga and ñirre trees, ascending through private property bordering Cerro Castillo National Park. During this stage, you’ll enjoy the first views of the Río Ibáñez Valley.

2 hours.
Portezuelo and Panoramic Views

We will reach the Portezuelo, a key point that offers stunning views of the southern face of Cerro Castillo and its glaciers. From here, enjoy breathtaking landscapes while continuing along the rocky trail to the glacial lagoon viewpoint.

1 hour.
Picnic at Laguna Cerro Castillo Viewpoint

Take a break to enjoy a delicious picnic surrounded by the stunning beauty of the glacial lagoon and the entire mountain range. This is the perfect time for photos and rest before starting the descent.

1 hour.
Descent through the Rocky Trail

We begin the descent through a rocky trail, reconnecting with the path that leads back to the starting point of the hike.

2 hours.
Return to Villa Cerro Castillo

The trekking experience concludes with transportation back to the office in Villa Cerro Castillo.

What to bring
  • Clothing: Warm clothing such as windbreaker, insulated jacket, upper and lower base layers.
  • Footwear: Proper trekking shoes.
  • Accessories: Gloves, bandana, sunglasses, sunscreen, trekking poles (optional). All items depend on the weather conditions on the day of the activity.
